Magravan says:
Hey everyone, hope you're having a good week!
I think the last panel is going to be switched or ... dialogue changed or something. If you're seeing it before a change, what does it look like to you? Does it make sense?
I think we had a bit of a miscommunication on it, and the way that it appears to me and the way it's currently written, it doesn't convey what I was hoping to convey.
Unfortunately, it's going to have to stay like it is for a bit, or June's going to have to letter it temporarily if the art is changing, because I have to get some sleep.. Early start tomorrow.
I had to run out quickly (thus the piss-poor backgrounds in this) to attend my 14 year old's band concert! I hope you can forgive me, but I really didn't want to miss it. He makes me so proud. The band was great too! (He plays trombone - sometimes posts here as Awsmo)
Any way, when I got home (at 11:00) James told me that I didn't get the joke... but I did, they were behind a wall! It just didn't appear like they were because I drew it stupidly in my rush.
So I added some stuff to make it look more like a wall, but it was too late, James was off to bed! So I will have to have him change it out tomorrow.
Sorry guys, I've failed you.
Also, another failure... I don't have the first panel of the next comic done! So if you vote this time, you're going to have to deal with a surprise image. Sorry sorry! (The surprise is fun though - ask T.Gatto who it is!)
Croaxleigh says:
I thought the original was fine, and liked the "Where's everyone else?" line... I thought that it was kind of obvious that they were in another room with a wall blocking the way. The sign in the new version is kind of funny, too, though I don't think it's as good of a punchline as the original.
Skrael says:
oh sorry, the final speech bubble will be added as well, so the punchline will still be the same. :D I just added the sign for fun. I was going to make it say:
Muchacho NL says:
Hahahaha, I laughed my ass off, and only noticed the "flaw" in your drawing when I read the artist notes.
I figured they were behind a wall already, so no harm done.
For me the new panel is just pure aesthetics.
PhilC says:
I thought RZ looked like that to indicate movement, like he was waving his arms up and down, then realized the little guy had actually attached six extra arms! He's a weird kid...
Excellent choice, Katie! Phantom's got the guns now, and I think Sylene might be holding a leg.
Excellent insight into the characters!
aok666 says:
I did. And wondered how he had control over the arms already when it took Beth so long to control her perfectly-fitted new superarms...
As I said, shouldn't they need Beth to fit the parts for them?
PhilC says:
Is Phantom squishing the eye because it won't work in his head? Cause he's in need of one, ya know. Or he's trying to put it in his head but his arm is so strong that he can't help squishing it?
Anon says:
Really? I thought the zombies couldn't have sex (given the initial part of this comic as it was) Why bother with the extra sexual addons huh?
Muchacho NL says:
@Anon, since when have boobs been part of the genitalia required for sex?
Bigger boobs doesn't mean anything sexual.
For women it's about womanhood, like big penii define our manhood.
the_brigand says:
aok666, the look on the Phantom's face suggest that he may in fact have been trying to put it in but failed to control his arms properly.
June, i did notice he eyeball. i also noticed your new avatar is very lifelike, truly your art skillz are improving :)
Magravan says:
@Croaxleigh - When I looked at it, it seemed like Beth should be able to see them... I don't know, it was probably the exhaustion talking ;)
@Skrael - That would have been an awesome sign ;D
@Asheswillfall - Breasts are not exclusively sexual... Obviously, based on Beth, they are done for visual appeal.
@Muchacho NL - Well I'm glad that everyone else seemed to get the intent... I was afraid that it looked like Beth could see them, and she was commenting on where security or whatever is.
@Beadle - You may be disappointed >_> Adding that much complexity to RZ's character design on an ongoing basis would probably get me hung ;)
The cast page should be updated, but I'm not sure when it will be. Sorry! That's the honest answer though.
@aok666 - That's certainly a subject for the next strip to go over, isn't it? :P
@Beadle - I ... don't know what it is. June'll have to answer.
@Keith - Sometimes they're worse >.>
@PhilC - He is definitely a weird kid :D That's one of the reasons that he's probably my favourite character in the story :)
@the_brigand - So it would appear :)
@Skrael - I did! Thankfully I wasn't completely oblivious on this one :)
@aok666 - Does squishing his new eye sound like control to you? :)
Fangs for RZ? Two words. A File :P That might actually be something that sticks around for character design for a while :)
@Lunaroki - That's okay, I think very few people would be able to tell what it started out as in a second or two ;)
@aok666 - Not for long!
@PhilC - That's a good question :)
@aok666 - See, you answer your own questions ;)
@Anon - It's not exclusively sexual, and .. look at Beth, clearly they exist ;)
@aok666 - Pure vanity ;)
@Meed - The funny part about Katie is that she could have gone for anything, really. The fact that she chose boobs probably says more about June as an artist than Katie as a character :)
@Muchacho NL - If they would just lower the worldwide average to 1.5", we could stop so much conflict :D (Points to anyone who gets the reference!)
I have to disagree with you about Boobs being about womanhood. There are women who end up having their breasts removed to avoid cancer problems. I don't think that they become less womanly because of it.
In the case of our comic, it's pure vanity, and having something that has no practical use is a sign of prestige. If you can afford something like that, it means that you're doing something that pays more credits.
@Asheswillfall - Katie is a complex character with a shallow facade... There's a lot more to her character than the readers have been allowed to see :)
@T.Gatto - Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it ;D
@the_brigand - Haha, she takes nice pictures too :)
@Skrael - Back when I had haaaair! ... Speaking of which, my hair's getting too long and needs to be shaved down again...
Magravan says:
She's not unintelligent, she just has a particular perspective on things ;)
Also, I no longer have long hair, and haven't since the day I joined the military (over 5 years ago now)... I cut it the night before I flew out to Basic ;)
aok666 says:
@Magravan: but as a zombie, Katie does literally lack brains.
Poor you re: hair, I wouldn't give up my 3-foot-long chestnut locks for anything
Muchacho NL says:
"If they would just lower the worldwide average to 1.5", we could stop so much conflict :D (Points to anyone who gets the reference!) "
Nice Southpark reference :)
"I have to disagree with you about Boobs being about womanhood. There are women who end up having their breasts removed to avoid cancer problems. I don't think that they become less womanly because of it." - It's not about what you and I think, it's what matters inside the heads of the woman involved.
Studies have shown that women feel less woman when one of the breasts are removed for said reason, or when women with bigger boobs walk around. (If you know Menage a 3: The Kiley reaction).
That doesn't mean she IS less of a woman, she just feels like that.
Same reason why smaller penii don't make us a lesser man, but we think we are.
Asheswillfall says:
my chestnut locks go down to my butt and there's no way i'm getting it chopped off, no matter how much i complain it's hot during the summer :D
aok666 says:
@Asheswillfall: same here - even the chestnut locks. Except that mine isn't hot in summer, probably due to British summer
@Skrael: Why did you cut half the length off if it took you six months to get used to it? With your loose hair it looks fine before AND after; with ponytail/plait it looks somehow attenuated when shorter than waistlength - almost like losing a limb (I am weird about my hair, I admit - to the point of actually having a slight phobia of haircuts and hairdressers' shops).
Skrael says:
I had that hair for ten years .. and well, I started to go grey.. and it was too much money to die it all the time, so I decided it was time to let it go. It was a huge decision for me, one that took over a year to make. I was heartbroken at first, but everyone said it looked a lot better. I haven't cut it since that day .. D:
aok666 says:
I couldn't see any grey on your previous photos you've posted on here, and grey looks totally fine on most people anyway. I haven't had my hair cut since I was 15 (mother forced me to, and somehow managed to get 3" trimmed off instead of 1" like she promised - insignificant, but a small victory for her). The time before that I won't go into, because when I tried to describe it on here just now I went over the character limit!
Ironically, my sister isn't allowed to grow her hair to shoulder-length (her preferred choice) until she learns to wash it properly by herself (which could take a *very* long time - she hasn't learnt in nearly 15 years of living) so she asked if she could instead have a "proper women's short haircut" (i.e. not a men's Number Four like my mum - who needs it that short or it goes frizzy), to which my parents (who once agreed that society could save a lot of time, money, resources and stress if everybody shaved their heads like in Ancient Egypt) replied that she is "gradually learning" (cue sardonic laughter on my part) to wash her hair by herself so there was no point... I have no idea what they're thinking there. They apparently won't even let her grow her (daft) fringe* out, so the poor girl is stuck with a five-year-old's hairstyle (mid-jaw length on average, with a fringe) on a head that looks about thirteen years old...

Here's the real panel 4:
I had to run out quickly (thus the piss-poor backgrounds in this) to attend my 14 year old's band concert! I hope you can forgive me, but I really didn't want to miss it. He makes me so proud. The band was great too! (He plays trombone - sometimes posts here as Awsmo)
