I'm not a huge fan of this one... I'm trying to get across the idea that things that we look at one way, they look at entirely different... An old tree becomes more like a monument than a symbol of life and sustenance. But the execution wasn't what I would have liked it to be... The original punchline was "Augh! Stop giving me more reasons to eat you!" and the title was "As if she needs another one.."
Oh, I'm going to use today as an opportunity to give you guys a heads up about the contest that we intend to hold eventually. It wont be until June's comfortable with her time constraints that we actually hold it though.
Basically, I'm going to post a list with X number of other webcomics on it, an item that you have to find in their archives, and a 20 comic (or less) region that you have to look in. Anyone who participates will go through each, find the page number that the item is on, and record it. When you're all done, you'll send us an email at Gottogm@gmail.com, and whoever gives us the first 100% correct response will win. The idea was suggested by Cyborg_572 as a poor man's version of his much better contests.
In return for this effort (though I think you'll enjoy the comics and it wont be that much effort,) June has said she would be willing to TOGM-ize the winner as a zombie with their choice of level if they provide a picture of themselves or a character that they own all the rights to. If they opt to, I might also add the character into the storyline (more likely with a person than a character).
Suggestions for a good start time (in GMT) would be appreciated, but I will probably make it evening for North America, simply because that's where our largest bunch of readers are at the moment. Plenty of advance notice will be given though ;)
After this contest, any feedback or suggestions for subsequent contests would be appreciated. Presuming anyone actually bothers ;D
Did anyone notice the twitter box when it was at the top of the comic? I worked for 4 hours and had Hunterx help me out to finally figure something out... I was so pleased with myself... and then I went to work and where's the twitter? In the MIDDLE of the first panel's art!! I was not a happy camper.. So it's down at the bottom now... Which is kind of a bad place for it, but we've got time to improve the layout ;D Still super grateful for Hunterx's help though ;)

Before I began, I fancied myself a decent artist. Now I realise that I know absolutely NOTHING about
drawing anatomy, image composition, perspective, expressions, body language, etc.
There are so many things I want to do in this comic, but I lack the ability to get it out on "paper".
I have a lot to learn.

and june, dont be so hard on yourself. the drawings have all been awesome, im sure many readers wouldnt notice any lack of perspective, expressions, etc. this is a comic, which is fun to read and imo should be fun to draw :) you've been doing a great job so far :)
I've noticed that a lot of the ones that I am not thrilled with what I've written, June has managed to carry the strip with her art. It's nice to know that's she got it covered, even when I drop the ball.
Also, I totally agree that once you actually start a comic you realize its much harder than it seems. But its not "that" hard either.
I was reealy bad with anatomy too, but recently some books have come out, exacly about drawing art, comics etc. I bought one and it was of HUGE help. You might look it up, they aren't expensive at all (bought mine for $3 lol).
I really hate that I fail drawing on tablets. But its just... not the same like having the feel of paper under your pencil. I really should get used to it though, having to scan everything from a friend is quite annoying.

I don't know what you mean about schedule on the page release? TOGM's schedule? It's at the top of the black box saying "Updates Monday and Thursday at Midnight", though I should put in (EST) or something, because obviously our midnight isn't your midnight :)
If you mean Comicfury, I don't think there is a set one... I just used gmail's calendar, set it up so that on Monday and Thursday it is marked, and then I will check it to make sure that I'm adding it to the right date... But a Calendar option for Comicfury instead of just a date drop down is good idea :) Might be going into the next major update.
@Effigy - I was talking about the writing... Sometimes I am trying to show a certain aspect of the culture, in this case the fact that they look at food bearing things as a thing of beauty rather than utility, and trying to show R.Z's method of speech is not the same. It just felt a little clunky to me... As for June, I think she was talking about the comic in general, not just this one... But she did tell me that she had a lot of trouble with certain parts, and it took her longer than she might have liked.

Seriously, how do you find them to work for you? Are they really worth the 2k$?
I do like the cintiques a lot, mostly you are awestruck every time you sit there and they swing over. However, I find them still awkward to use. We got these specific ones a few years back and it took me a long time to use them properly. You clearly have to be more careful, can't really lean on them and even though you can obviously move the control-elements of whatever program you are using around, but it often feels like you are covering up your own tools with your arm.
They are not to be sneezed at, but I honestly prefer a nice, big tablet, despite the fact that drawing where you see the stuff appear feels more "organic".
Cintique seems good though, if I ever get enough money I'll probably buy one.
Are you using a Wacom? I'm currently using a Wacom Intuos 3 Wide (Like this www.amazon.com/Wacom-Intuos3-12-Inch-Tablet-Metallic-Gray/dp/B0003009AI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1263304770&sr=8-4 except the wide format cause I have a wide screen monitor) and I paid a pretty penny for it too, around $600 CAD with taxes, shipping and handling etc. I guess I should be thankful for what I have, but I seem to have a hard time with blind drawing, even after ten years of using one and "being in the business"... I have found that I really enjoy using the felt pen nib, but it wears down really quickly and I'm scared to use it too much :P
@Effigy .. Same thing, I just never got used to the idea of "blind drawing" ... For some reason my puny brain just cannot seem to translate drawing on a slab in front of me and seeing it come up on the monitor. It frustrates me to no end. Yes, I even yell at my tablet and or monitor. James thinks I am quite nuts!
