Could have tweaked the dialogue more. Opted for sleep instead. Might edit this author note later on, but for now, opting for sleep.

Sorry for the delayed comment... We had a cameo from RPGeneric's "Floon!" We're still using Orbit's Moon! We're grateful that we know some great comic people who are cool with us using their characters in our comics, even if just as a T-shirt :D Thanks guys!

I was intending Sylene to look over at his shirt and say something like "Errrr, he's wearing *some goofy looking shirt*...", but we used MOON! This is one of those cases where a "Hey, that would be fun!" turns into "Whoops, re-write time!"

I updated the FAQ to show the flyer instead of laying out each level in text. I updated the cast page with the 3 older characters, but Sylene will have to wait until June has time to make me a Sylene cast avatar :D I saw that a lot of people were checking out the page, so I thought I better try to lessen the amount it sucked. :) A web designer I am not :D

If you didn't see it yet, check the previous comic for a preview image of Sylene June did in Pencil :)

A few things going on with me this week. I picked up a copy of Anatomy for Fantasy Artists by Glenn Fabry and I've been studying it. The book has some really good strategies for drawing and nifty ideas, I recommend it.

I also picked up a wooden tray for my Wacom Tablet, and I have it set up on an angle atop a thick binder with a layer of gripping plastic between it to avoid slippage, and I must say that moving the tablet from my unstable lap to this table has made a world of difference to the feel of drawing on the tablet. It is a lot easier on my wrist, and having the table on an incline instead of flat helps me move the pen more precisely and fluidly. Definitely a big change for the better. I can also use the stand (it's basically a solid TV tray) for drawing my sketches while watching TV, etc., so it was a good investment of $12 or so.

Lastly, I have been using the felt nib on my pen. I'd been reluctant to before, as it seems to already be showing signs of wear and fraying after only several hours of use, but I've come to the conclusion that the friction caused by the felt nib is very beneficial to my drawing. So, I bit the bullet and found an online outlet to buy some new felt nibs. (Wacom's website doesn't provide these nibs anymore?! The link was invalid) I ordered 25, as they were $3.95 CAD for 5, and $14.00 shipping. With a 25 nib order, it came to around $33.00 so I saved myself a fair amount of shipping. 25 (I guess) is probably enough to last me the year. We'll see how it goes.

Just so everyone knows: you are free to use my characters in your comics. Even if you don't want to. You must.

This comic was great, incidentally. Doesn't Beth ever lock her door? :)
Barrahir 14.1.2010, 8:20 AM edit delete

@ 00Davo: Since this is a perfectly organised world ruled by one all-knowing guy, I suppose there is no crime, and no need to lock the doors :D only a thought though.

I was about to say "Did someone else draw this page", but then I saw the comments that say you have improved your tools, so that explains it. AWESOME JOB!

I would appreciate it if you guys stopped giving away spoilers! :D Beth doesn't ever lock her door, no. There sort of is crime, and there is the equivilent of a police force... But anyone who is going to break into your house in TOGM world isn't going to be stopped by a locked door. If they can manipulate your door handle, they aren't likely to be performing a crime. If they aren't, they are just as likely to come through your window, so this saves the cost of replacements for them, and so forth. When you're a zombie, there isn't too much you have to worry about in a home invasion...

Also, Sylene has a history of making random entrances, normally Beth just deals with it and life goes on. Having a secret is new to her :D

I highly doubt you would ever want to but feel free to borrow any characters from the We Haz A Cookie! universe for anything :P (I highly doubt you'll need an anthropomorphic cow walking around any time soon)

WHOOO! RPGenerical Illithid attack!
Never made the connection that Illithids actually do eat brains, which makes them a great side-gag for TOGM.
Thanks a plenty for the cameo. ^_^
<humph> Guess that means I gotta return the favor again, hehe.

And of course Kitty is available for gankage on random clothing articles any old time. I'd even be happy to lend you a "t-shirt design".

Here's a bigger picture of Sylene in Panel 3, cause I thought she was cute!

"I would appreciate it if you guys stopped giving away spoilers!"

How can we give spoilers if we don't know the story? :D but then again, some of us are good guessers XD

@Shirik - We're pretty much keeping cameos as shirts that they are wearing for right now.. And since it is set in the future, and I'm going on the assumption that you'll all be famous enough to have t-shirts by then, it works without breaking the setting ;D

@Effigy - Yay for people who get the side jokes! :D I was tempted to ask June to do Lysette, since that sort of represents RPGeneric to me. But the cross mojonation of a brain eater in a zombie comic was just too awesome ;)

@Al - We were actually planning on doing GBK sooner, but opted to use it for R.Z.'s, given our son's affinity for it ;) If you have something in particular you'd like for it, let June know ;)

@Barrahir - Yes, definitely!

You have to make a 2g shirt now! :P
Kazyan 14.1.2010, 7:56 PM edit delete
Wow, everyone wants a cameo now. (As do I. :P No room to talk then)

Also, I enjoy watching TOGM's art evolve, and I find the One to Five system fascinating.
Magravan 14.1.2010, 11:47 PM edit delete
Magravan
@2g - If we put in a 2G shirt, we'd basically just be hawking Pokemon...

@Kazyan - Same thing, but the periodic table, hehe :)
Kazyan 15.1.2010, 2:01 AM edit delete
To use 2G, you'd have to have a quote. (Be quiet! I'm not in a good mood cause I lost you!)

I'm sure zombies would keep up our proud tradition of putting witty phrases on T-shirts.

Barrahir
can I haz cameo too? :O

...

what is a cameo anyway? :D
Magravan 15.1.2010, 2:43 PM edit delete
Magravan
Haha! Would "Rocks: Gotta catch 'em all" be too self-serving? :) (In reference to the guest comic I did for 2G)

@Barrahir - A cameo is when a character from someone else's comic is used in our comic. At least, that's how I'm using it ;D Moon is a character from Orbit, and the Mindflayer in that style is intended to be from RPGeneric, but I guess Order of the Stick might look something like that too, if they did mindflayers... It's been a while since I read OOTS though, once I caught up to their last one...

Same problem for you though, Barra.. Cameo for you = Cameo for WoW :D

Anyways, we're going to dial back the cameos for a bit anyways after GBK, since those are the t-shirts planned for the day... We're are planning a Links page though, since the ad space thing didn't work out as planned. And I guess we'll continue showing the rainbow, as much as I'm not sure I enjoy -that- particular connection....

Friggen Nature, what's it ever done for me?! ;)
Effigy_Power 16.1.2010, 10:19 AM edit delete
Effigy_Power
See, that's why you should never ask for a Cameo... because if you do, it doesn't look like a surprise and great gift anymore, because then the artist felt all obligated to do it.
I am sure that a lot of CF's finest will find their way into RPGeneric, even 2G's hard to implement Poke-fun... but I won't tell you ahead of time...
THAT's half the fun, am I right?
Magravan 16.1.2010, 12:58 PM edit delete
Magravan
That's true, Effigy... Of course, now that we are putting the kibosh on cameos for a little while, maybe there will still be some surprise when we bring them back..

You guys peeked at your presents before Christmas too, didn't you!
