For those of you who don't have us on Facebook, TOGM was challenged by our own PhilC - Sack Brigader! after his own webcomic, Living Room Wars completed it.
Well, though it might lack the same effect that it has on others, Beth has taken up the torch to see TOGM standing up and spreading the message about ALS!
It's definitely a worthwhile cause, and if people are donating (And they are!! It raised over $8.6 million in one day!), then this isn't just some stupid internet fad.
This is very awesome -- I have never loved Beth more! And that's saying something. LRW Mikuru is very appreciative. I ended up making a donation on her behalf because she was such a good sport!
Me too! This one was all June, so I can compliment the cleverness of the joke :)
I don't know the exact science behind flash freezing, and how it affects materials similar to the Green Stuff. I can't answer that question with any authority.
Flash freezing uses liquid nitrogen to instantly drop something's core temperature into the negatives making it so it won't decompose, the green stuff would likely react like flash frozen icecream, a layer of frost over it and the green stuff a ball of ice. If the green stuff is completely biological, then it is unlikely to survive being unfrozen after flash freezing, however if it has a mechanical element, it is possible it could survive. You never really explained if the green stuff was nanomachinnes or 100% biological... or some mixture.
Then it is more likely to survive, as an MRI would fry circuits, the biological part would likely die in the freezing process, but if the non biological part can survive without the biological part then it would survive. They sort of covered this in sonic, where the half robot girl was almost killed when a living virus was taking apart her mechanics, she can't survive without them, but her mechanics would be fine without her.
Anyway, as TOGM is a PG-13 comic, we suggest that you only imagine said nipples if you are of the appropriate age group wherein the nipples would be a lawful viewing experience in your place of residence.
I realized something ironic. This icebucket als thing, my comic was going to start with a character having als, because there is no cure. Isn't that a kick of irony.
Yes I was going to, I even had an author blurb typed up with the alsa.org site and a bunch of information on it. I know it not only attacks the brain and spinal cord, but also because of that causes muscular dystrophy, which can spread to the heart and lungs before much damage is done to the brain or spinal cord, killing the person because their heart or lungs became too weak to function, that was the part I was using.
Quite so. I didn't want to insult anyone with als, and I didn't want to just use "generic incurable disease #7947074" because that shit gets old and lame. So I did real research, and used a real disease with no cure.
The problem with "awareness campaigns" is they are never done for something truly obscure. Everyone have already heard of the disease in question. People participating in the awareness campaign feel they have "done their part" and are thus less likely to donate. And because the barrier for entry is so low, a LOT of people "do their part" via "raising awareness". So, overall, awareness campaigns make things worse.
It's finding something that resonates with people while not flooding the market. I'm guessing that another, similar challenge would be poorly received if it happened too soon.
Don't know if you guys will read this, but thank you. Was I nice ride since many years ago with I better ending that I only got to read now, LoL.
Are you guys drawing/writing anything else? Would love to read it.
It is very unlikely that we will release anything else as a team.
I have written a script for another comic, but I don't think anything will come of it. Skrael has worked on EverydayAbnormal as an artist, and has put out additional art elsewhere.
Its been 4 years since I checked this site and this comic. Rereading it brought back good memories and I remember it inspiring me to try and improve my art. Glad to have reread this again.
Thanks for letting us know. I go back and try to read through it on occasion, but the comment section usually pulls me away from it, and I end up getting lost in the nostalgia :)
It really was. I'm still a little sad that Fuss and Shush ended up dying on the vine. I've been debating putting up just the script pages, because Skrael and I split, so it will likely never come to fruition.
Sadly, there is nothing really else out there. Skrael did a stint on Everyday Abnormal, but she told me to tell you that she's not really doing art anymore these days.
I am working on learning to draw, but it's amidst other pursuits that, if I am being honest, are more important to my life right now, and so often takes a back seat.
If anything does happen, there will likely be something posted here. Otherwise, you could follow the TOGM page on Facebook, which has about 0 comments per year, but would likely be a place where we'd post if either of us started doing something again.
Just reread this
I used to love this comic still do. A lot better than some of other ones out there
Only ones I’ve enjoyed as much are: demon by Jason shiga
Also blank it. By Lemo and aric
Yours will always have a place in my heart though. Sorry I used to ask you all such stupid questions I was a little less socially mature back in 2010 when I found this
Gah I’m old now 😂

Honestly, we were super happy for all of the reader interaction, so I definitely am glad for everything you posted, regardless of the social maturity :D
And speaking of old things, my god so much time has passed on this thing.
Thanks for checking in! I’m not usually this quick to respond, but I’m still grateful to hear from you guys.
Anyway, on a slightly less mouth-foaming note, thanks for including us, and thanks for your own efforts for the cause!

It's not 100% biological. Does that mean it's going to survive flash freezing? I have no clue.
As I said previously, I don't know enough about the subject to give a definitive answer.
I -do- know that MRIs kill the Enlightened. So that tells us that there is some non-biological material involved.

I highly doubt that they raised that much in the past .. probably several years, really.
So, in this particular case, I'm going to say that it is definitely achieving the goal, and very likely exceeding it by a large margin.
There are plans in place for a new comic called Fuss and Shush, but I can't offer any timeline on when that may happen.
You were listed as a guest, so I'm not sure who you are :)

Weird it put my comment twice
